Tanzania Community Rising:
FAQ & Support
Can I visit the projects in person?
Yes. Seeing the impact firsthand is the best way to understand our work. Donors, sponsors, and volunteers are welcome to visit our sites in rural Tanzania. We can assist with coordinating your visit, including site tours and meetings with local leadership. Many visitors combine their trip with a Kilimanjaro trek or safari, and discounted logistical support is available for our partners.
How are students selected for the Scholarship Program?
Selection is rigorous and community-driven. Priority is given to children from marginalized families with no steady income, orphans and vulnerable children, and those living in extreme poverty without access to regular meals. We also consider academic potential, focusing on students in rural villages who show a strong desire to learn but lack financial means to continue their education.
Is Tanzania Community Rising a registered NGO?
Yes. We are a fully registered local NGO in Tanzania, established in 2015. We adhere to national regulations for financial reporting and community development, ensuring our programs are legally compliant and culturally relevant.
How does sponsoring a student work?
Sponsoring a student for $70 per month goes beyond financial support. You build a meaningful connection through quarterly letters or drawings, receive an annual progress report detailing academics and health, and have the opportunity to send encouraging messages that become part of the student’s journey.
Can I volunteer without teaching or medical experience?
Absolutely. While specialized skills in STEM, agribusiness, or healthcare are valuable, there are meaningful roles for everyone. Volunteers can help with school renovations, tree-planting initiatives, or play-based learning at our Kindergarten. Your willingness to contribute and engage with the community is what matters most.
How does Tanzania Community Rising ensure project sustainability?
We focus on economic empowerment to avoid aid dependency. By training women and youth in entrepreneurship and marketing, we equip communities with tools to generate income and eventually achieve self-sufficiency. Our programs act as launchpads for long-term independence.
How can companies or churches get involved?
Partnership options include sponsoring infrastructure projects through corporate social responsibility, supporting groups of students or social initiatives as a congregation, and utilising employer matching gift programs to double contributions.
What sets Tanzania Community Rising apart?
We are locally led, with decisions made by people who live in the communities we serve. Our focus is on real impact, not storytelling fluff. From STEM education for secondary students to environmental projects on Mt. Kilimanjaro, we address the intersection of education, economy, and environment with honesty and measurable results.
How can I get involved besides donating?
ou can volunteer at our projects, participate in community events, help with school renovations, tree-planting initiatives, or support local programs through your skills and time. Everyone’s contribution, big or small, makes a difference.
